Speaker Bureau

Our Speaker Bureau links those wanting to tell their stories and share their experience with organisations and communities wanting to learn.

Speaker Bureau members are people who are willing to speak publically at forums, meetings, presentations, conferences and other community or corporate events. Speaker Bureau members nominate themselves for this role and they choose what topics they are prepared to speak about.

Speaker Bureau members are trained and supported by APSU. They receive remuneration and are empowered in their endeavour to help raise awareness, overcome stigma and shame, and educate people about addiction, recovery and hope.

The vast majority of evaluations over the years demonstrate that Speakers Bureau members have an immediate, positive, and often transformative effect, on their audience members.

APSU invites expressions of interest from people with a lived experience of alcohol and/or other drug (AOD) misuse and family members affected by a loved one’s AOD misuse to join our Speaker Bureau. Send an email to apsu@sharc.org.au introducing yourself and remember to include a contact number so we can arrange a time to talk about how you can get involved.

To request a speaker to present at a forum, meeting, presentation, conferences, community or corporate events, please contact us on apsu@sharc.org.au

Remember to allow a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice to help us in finding a suitable speaker for you.
