SHARC expands support for nurses and midwives

In an innovative partnership, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Victorian Branch) is providing long term funding support towards SHARC’s Oxford Houses program. This makes allocated residential places available for the nursing and midwifery workforce who may need some intense out-of-home support during a difficult time in their lives related to substance use, some co-occurring with mental health challenges.

The program also works in partnership with the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHP) to enable access and referral into the supported housing, while also providing a therapeutic support structure for the resident.

Protocols, including referral processes, are being developed and more information will be provided to the sector soon.
